Katsumi Hayakawa

Japan (b.1970)

Katsumi Hayakawa's three-dimensional works on paper and installations center around the rapidly increasing density of modern cities and the information age. Hayakawa regards cityscape construction as a symbol of absence.

He earned his BFA from Nihon University College of Arts, Tokyo and his MFA from the School of Visual Arts New York in 1998.

Hayakawa's works have been exhibited internationally at Taipei Fine Arts Museum, Taipei, Taiwan, Yusto/Giner, Marbella, Spain, Gallery MoMo, Tokyo, Japan, Rujswijk Museum, The Netherlands and throughout the U.S. His work is included in the collections of Louis Vuitton, Tokyo and London, the American Embassy in Dubai, The Royal Bank of Scotland and Entergy-Koch and Vincent & Elkins Law Firm, Houston.
