Mansoureh Hosseini

Islamic Republic of Iran (19262012)

Iranian artist Mansoureh Hosseini left his hometown of Tehran for Italy in 1954 to further his studies at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Rome. It was there where she studied under famed artists and critics Amerigo Bartoli Natinguerra,and Virgilio Guzzi. Hosseini exhibited her work at the Venice Biennial in 1956, and had a solo exhibition at Valerio Mariani in Rome. She was also the recipient of the first prize award at the figurative arts exhibition in Italy in 1957. Post revolution, Hosseini continued to paint and exhibit her artworks both locally and on the global stage. Her last major exhibition was held at Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art in 2004.
