Ahmed Askalani

Ahmed Askalani is one of Egypt’s best known sculptors and a fixture on the contemporary art scene. Askalani works with traditional materials and techniques to create mostly figures or animals seen in his surroundings. He works with bronze, and is also known for his woven rope sculptures. He has exhibited his work extensively, most notably at the Venice Biennale in 2009, and with Art D’Egypte. His work can be found in important private and public collections including the Barjeel Art Foundation.

Rima Nasser is the founder of Selections magazine, a publication available both in print and online with a focus on the Arab world. Selections is also a platform for the arts, combining Selections Viewing Rooms online gallery and 'Cultural Narratives', a project aiming at mapping the Arab art world through commissioned works by artists. Nasser is also an avid collector herself.
